I’ll go out on a limb here and assume that everyone reading this knows I photograph professional football.
I’d guess guess that some number of you also know that I photograph people not actually playing football…weddings, engagement shoots, that sort of thing.
Normally separate, occasionally those two worlds overlap when I photograph a wedding for a Ravens staff member or player.
There was some overlap Friday night when I had the opportunity to photograph the super-top-secret proposal of Ravens kicker Justin Tucker to his girlfriend Amanda.
Justin asked me a while back if I would be interested in documenting this important event for him and photographing a proposal is something I’ve always wanted to do, so I was all in.
He planned a dinner for the two of them at Wit and Wisdom in the Four Seasons in Harbor East. At the end of dinner, Justin excused himself to go to the restroom but actually went up to the hotel’s pool deck. A bit later, Amanda was escorted up and was greeted by a huge array of candles, placed there earlier by Union 3 Event Productions who did an amazing job setting the mood. I was REALLY glad they were there, as there was no other available light to be had!
Justin also had his friends Alex and Jack from the band All Time Low waiting there playing some nice background tunes.
Everything went off without a hitch and most importantly…Amanda said yes.
A big thanks to Justin for trusting me to capture this awesome evening.
By now everyone is aware of the headlines…
“Ravens get redemption for AFC Championship game”
“Torrey Smith overcomes loss and shines in honor of brother”
“Justin Tucker kicks game winner”
It was an amazing night. I am so glad I was not watching this game as a fan, because I probably would have ripped out my hair.
Now…time to get ready to do it all over again tonight.
