Ravens defeat Browns in home opener

Expectations and energy were both running high this Sunday as the Baltimore Ravens took on division rivals, the Cleveland Browns. What started out as a cold rainy day in Baltimore, turned out to be a beautiful day to shoot football. Photographers are very picky when it comes to lighting conditions and I am no different. We want a lot of light…but that light has to be nice and soft at the same time. A typical 1:00pm game in September generally has the worst lighting you can imagine…hard light directly overhead, causing harsh, dark shadows in player’s helmets. Sunday, was not the case, as the overcast skies provided ideal conditions to capture both the player’s action and expressions.

The Ravens’ offense looked like they were much more cohesive and Joe Flacco and Anquan Boldin are clearly finding their rhythm. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the game. Make sure you stick around until the end of the slideshow…thats where you will find one of the best “key moment” images I have ever taken…Anquan Boldin’s last touchdown catch of the day. ENJOY!
